Campagnolo Centaur 10-speed Triple crankset issues
 

Has anybody out there tried a Campy Centaur 10-speed triple crankset with a Phil Wood bottom bracket? I was thinking of getting a Phil BB with a symmetrical 110.5 mm axle just so there's some room for manuevering in case the chain line is weird. (The bike is a road bike, a climbing time trial bike with a ultra-tight rear triangle configuration.The seat tube is indented in order to place the rear wheel closer to the bottom bracket, which means the chain stays are only 39 cm measured center to center.

Also, does anyone know which chain I should mount to work with the Campy ultra drive chainrings on the crankset and the Shimano 8-speed hyperglide cassette on the bike. Are we getting into serious compatability issues here?

Any tips would be a great help.

110.5 is Chorus/Record triple size. 115 is Centaur and below groups. The 111/110.5 symetrical BB is Centaur and below double size. That is where your problems are coming from. The only thing to do is return the BB or buy a Chourus/Record Triple. It isn't going to work with Centaur. Good luck

Thanks for the reply-- sorry it took so long for me to get back to you but I was on vacation and then ill. Good thing the question was hypothetical and I hadn't bought anything yet.

From what I've seen on short stay tt bikes you may have a lot of drive train noise due to
extreme chain line angle. If you can get the gear you need I would recomend a compact. Good Luck.
