replacing cranks...size
Hey all I need to replace my cranks but don't remember the size/length of the spindle. What is the best way to measure w/out removing the bb. The reason I want to keep it simple is that this bike is the one I ride from the train to work so my tools are minimal....especially the work stand. I don't want to bring it home pull the bb and to figure it out. Could I ride the bike to a local shop, they look, and sell me a crank?? Or will they have to(at least) pull off at least the crank? I am fairly certain that it's either 110 or 113. The bike is a early/mid low end Gary Fisher Advance mnt Thanks Charlie

If you're changing the crankset, the question may be moot. The crankset is the single biggest factor in determining what BB spindle length that you need. Generally when you buy a new crankset they will recommend a BB spindle length.

I see!! The measurement is from one end to the other end of the spindle. Let me ask y'all this: If my original crank item specs says" spindle length 110 113 mm" Would this mean that I could use a crank listing length as 113, 118 mm?? The reason I don't buy the same crank is that it is a POS. Thanks charlie

They are recommending a spindle whose length is 110-113mm.
If you get a new crank, the recommended length might be different.

My current crank has these numbers 110, 113mm(if memory serves)
So: Will it fit??
