help please - something stuck INSIDE rim
i ordered a wheelset, weinmann dp18 laced to formula hubs. i just noticed there is something rattling inside the wall of the rim. i've shaken it with the valve hole down but nothing came out. what could it be? poor built wheel (spoke debris)? if anyone has any ideas on how to get whatever it is out of the rim it would be much appreciated, thanks

Basically shake and rotate. I've had broken eyelets as well as nipples fall in rims, they can be a real pain to get out sometimes but if it got in it can get out.

after a lot of rotating and shaking i finally saw a metal shaving which i managed to pull out with a dentist tool. thanks for the reply and any who thought of replying, problem solved

For posterity's sake, I thought I'd just throw in another suggestion, after the fact: a magnet. Congrats on using the tool and getting the part 'extracted'. |
Yeah, congrats on that, it's so annoying when you get the tinny sound on a brand new item. When I bought my last frame, some of the metal shavings from where the BB shell and headtube had ben reamed were stuck in the frame. They took ages to get out but it's very worthwhile!

yes, shavings inside the frameor stays are even more annoying. i used one of those hook shaped dental tools they sell at supermarkets, therefore not a real "dentist tool"
