campy square taper cranks,, what bb do i use

i just picked up a 1990's campy crankset. it says it is square taper. does this require a special campy BB?
my existing cranks are from the same era they are mirage gruppo. i bough these to switch from triple to double.

Something like this would do, but you would have to match threading to
your BB shell. The one listed is Italian thread. Shimano and other Japanese
Sq tapers have a slightly different spec to the taper so it is worthwhile to
use Campy, especially as the price is pretty benign.

Usually most any Campy square taper BB for double cranksets would work. Your current BB spindle would be too long as it was designed for a triple crankset.

Campy square-taper cranks and bottom brackets use the ISO interface - most others (including Shimano) use the JIS interface, which has the same taper angle of 4 degrees but is slightly thicker. You can mix them in practice, but it ain't close to ideal.

Note that the square-taper interface is different than the threading of the bottom bracket.

Different cranks get proper chainline with different bottom bracket spindle lengths. It's worth trying to figure out what bottom bracket spindle length is ideal for your crankset.

I used to put all my '90s Campag cranks on square Shimano BBs, and it worked ok, but
now all the cranks are 'stretched' and go on way too far on a Campag square spindle (the cranks easily hit the cups). I was going to sell some of them, but now they're a bit knackered

also, the Campag cranks with the auto extract bolt need checking more often on a Shimano BB
(I guess because they just don't go on far enough), especially after the first few rides
