Tire Sizes?

Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the world of cycling and need some help. I've recently purchased a used Trek 7500FX bicycle that has 700x35 tires. The tire I'd like to move to is the Specialized Nimbus Armadillo. Unforunately, it comes in 700x28 and 700x38 not 700x35. Do I have to buy the exact same size or can I go with 700x38 or something else? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks and take care.

38 will work, 3mm diff is only 1.5/side and ever so slightly taller a profile. Bike like that sufficient clearance.

A Lil Rhody guy, eh? I grew up in EG, left 30 years ago for the sunny south where I can ride year long! Happy trails.

There is a good table of rim width/tyre width compatability at

Note that different brands use tape measure of widely differing accuracy. One man's 28mm is another's 32mm and yet another's 25mm.
