chain for 5 speed

I have to fix up a couple of bikes for some people as a favor, and they all have 5 speed rear freewheels. Do they take the same chains as a six speed rear end?

I haven't found anything that is listed as a 5 speed chain, and I'm not sure where they started making them differently from one component generation to the next. I know 8, 9, and 10 are all distinctive, and I believe 6 and 7 use the same chain size... aside from that I'm a little stumped.

Six speed will work. I believe it's 5/6, 7/8, 9 and 10
