7 speed freewheel/9 speed cassette compatability
I have the opportunity to buy a set of aerospoke wheels for very cheap. The guy has no knowledge of them . They currently have a 7 speed freewheel on the rear. My question is, does this mean that my 9 speed cassette won't work on it? I'm wondering if modern wheels are backward compatible, meaning that it could be possible that the previous owner simply put a 7 speed freewheel on a wheel meant for a 9 speed. Or do 7 speed freewheels go with 7 speed freewheels and nothing else?
I suppose there's only one way to find out, but I'd rather avoid spending the $$$ if you guys can educate me here. I've enclosed pictures for your reference, thanks for your help

If it's a freewheel instead of a 7s cassette you're out of luck
Even if it's a 7 speed casssette you have a bigger issue - the rear axle spacing is probably 126mm, and even if you could change out the freehub body for a 9s one, you have no way to redish the wheel.
"the guy has no knowledge of them" just his way of denying knowing these issues.
The rear's good for a retro build only. You can use the front!
