First post! New bike w/ brake question.

Hi all.
First time post.

I'm 49 yrs old, and back on a road bike after a 15 year layoff. My first order of business is to knock off the extra 20lbs I'm carrying. ...And the bike is the way to go.

I just purchased a new Specialized Sequoia Elite road bike. My research told be that the geometry would work for me.

However, I find the brakes lag too much for me. Basically, the bike doesn't stop when I want it to, and that could be dangerous.

I want to change the pads.

The component group is a combination of Shimano parts.
However, there is no group name on the brake calipers.

Can someone direct me to the proper pads needed to give me better braking power?

Here's a picture of the brake caliper:

Kool Stop Salmon is a very good pad that is popular here.

Look like Tektros. On most Giant and other Taiwaneese bikes. OEM pads suck. Get them changed over to KoolStop's and I think your issues will be resolved. I like the black/salmon combo pads but that is due to the variations in weather here. All pink are for wet weather. All black dry. Half and half a good compromise.

The Tektro pad holders take the same pads as Shimano road brakes so the Kool-Stop pad inserts for Shimano brakes will fit.

nashbar has a good deal on the "kool campy insert pad", would those work even though they seem to be made for a campy group?

I stopped at me lbs and they had Dura-Ace pads. I picked up a new set, and stopping is 100% better. Just out of curiosity, I also ordered the KoolStops from an online vendor.

Thanks all
