Vibrations in Pedals?

I was out for a ride yesterday and I noticed some vibrations in my pedals I had not felt before. I felt it throughout the whole ride, but only whenever I was pedalling hard. It happened on the upswing, so no pressure was being applied to the pedal with the vibration. I am new to repairing my own bike and I am learning as I go, so I am looking for some pointers. I recently replaced the chain and adjusted the rear deraillure and yesterday was the first real ride since then. I hear no grinding, no rubbing, nothing unusual. Also, this is on a Raleigh road bike I bought on Ebay two years ago, so not sure on the maintenance before I got it. Any ideas?

Thanks.
