So my Raleigh xxix 29ner (rigid) has a headset issue. During each ride the headset comes loose just enough to feel it on rougher sections. Its not much, but with a rigid setup, you can feel anything loose. The headset is just a cheapo - should I consider jumping to something better, maybe a King - or is that overkill?

Maybe tighten the stem clamp more? What difference would the headset model make? It's the stem that holds everything together.

That's right, if it's coming loose, it's usually not the headset......as long as we're talking threadless headsets.

I looked over the specs on the Raleigh and it seems like it has some good parts hung on it.
Handlebar: Easton EA50 31.8 Stem: Easton EA30 31.8Headset: Ahead 1-1/8As the others have said, check the cap and then the torque of the stem bolts and see if they are good. Could be a stripped stem bolt, but the Easton Stems are pretty darn good.
