D'oh moment with a new chain
So I just installed a 10s cassette and new DA chain, only to realize that I had way to much slack. It didn't occur to me to see if I were going to need to shorten it. Consequently, I am out one of shimano's $2 a pop power pins or whatever they are called. Now I need to find out how much to shorten the chain.
My Big:Big gear is a 53:27. S:S is a 39:12. How long should the chain be/how do I figure it out?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Use the big ring/big cog method for chain sizing. Sheldon's got the details here: https://sheldonbrown.com/derailer-adjustment.html#chain

Could someone post a picture of their derailleur while the chain is in the big ring/big cog configuration. I cut my chain according to sheldon's instructions and thing the chain might be too short in reality. I know this configuration is not rideable, but I'd like to see how it looks on some other bikes. Thanks!

You did add an inch after measuring it in big/big, right? You need that for your derailleur. Bigger derailleurs may even require 2 inches.
Shimano chains are a b**** to get back together without power pins..
