huffy serial numbers deciphering

i have a Huffy Gila i like to know more about for personal reasons and to upgrade it

i found 3 serial numbers on the bike, what do they mean?:
on the frame (crank): BB00H 045618

on a white sticker above the first one: 26860 B 00H

a yellow sticker on the front right wheel fork : 000301831

I'd be surprised if anyone here cares enough about huffy bikes to know anything about the serial numbers.

Maybe there's someone crazy enough in the C&V section to track Huffy serials.

Do you know timcupery I had I Schwinn it was junk, the brakes were so bad I had to use my shoes for brakes it lasted me 3 weeks before I totaled it and they went under.

Huffy bikes are the # 3 bike in America and still in business. It will handle the abuse
To tell you the truth I am a car guy and this is another hobby

@@$$%###$$$##$@#$^%^%% and a #$%^#$#@ and you did not answer my question!!!

And nobody wants an opinion from a guy who is ridiculous and a moron and you did not answer my question!!!

CJaguar,
If a Huffy has sentimental value, then who are we to judge? I have a Royce Union I keep around for personal reasons as well, as a reminder of where I started, both physically and also because when I resumed riding for health reasons, my grandfather, who passed away bought it for me because he wanted to encourage me to ride.

Huffy does have an extensive database on their bikes and the Gila was likely made by Pacific for Huffy. I'm guessing it's around 10-12 years old, maybe less?

By the way, I'm one of those "nuts that hangs in C&V":p ;)

Here's SOME info on Huffy Serial Numbers

Here's a general Huffy Owners Manual

Ah, yes. I'm not trying to be mean and intentionally not answer your question - I just had no idea, and didn't think it likely that anyone else would either. I was simply making a descriptive statement - I would be surprised if anyone here cares enough about huffy bikes to know anything about the serial numbers. This is because Huffy has nearly always catered to the low-end market, Wal-Mart type bikes. Which isn't to say that they don't work.
But lots of people in C&V are interested in Vintage Schwinns and Treks because the bikes had reputation for good workmanship. Huffy not so much.

Anyway, Tom Stormcrowe provided information that does indeed surprise me. And perhaps helps you to answer your question.

Huffy Serial Numbers

Determining a Huffy's age requires two steps:
  • The last digit of the year of manufacture can be determined by the first digit of the serial number.
  • Then you have to look for other characteristics to determine the decade of manufacture.
Example:
Your serial number starts with "5"
Your cycle has 26 x 1.75 tires
Your cycle has a built in tank

This would be a cycle manufactured in 1965

Yep, some of the older Huffy's, like the muscle bikes are quite collectible, as well as some of the the old Cruisers.

Interesting. I've only been familiar with their bikes since the late 80's, and those have been very undesirable to be brought into bike shops, since the parts (and often frames) are low-precision and thus really a pain to work on. I know that the U.S. team road Huffy bikes in the 1984 Olympics, but of course that's only Huffy paying to have their name put on the bikes that were made for the Olympic team by whoever else.

Btw Tom, congrats on your cycling and weightloss and diabetes remission! That's really impressive in two years. Good luck in the 100k ride.
