Quick Release too long!

Hey guys... I just installed a rigid Zion fork in place of my old Marzocchi MZ comp. When I was putting my front tire back on I had to thread the quick release so far that the rod is poking through the nut on the right side. Is this okay? Or should I look into getting a shorter QR?

Thanks.

As long as it threads far enough to hold the wheel securely, it will work, but the part sticking out can cause cuts and scrapes easily... more easily than you think, as I did it to myself twice while walking my bike beside me after a ride.

Cut off the extra with a hacksaw. Then grind a bevel at the tip so that it's not sharp. Also removes any mangled threads from the sawing.
