Using same shoes for spd and 'look' style pedals help please.

Using same shoes for spd and 'look' style pedals help please.
With my primary usage bike I use Sidi dominator 5 shoes and shimano xtr 970 pedals (spd cleats) on my mountain bike.
On my road bike (which I haven't ridden in two years) I have "look style" pedals with associated cleats.
My road shoes are damaged beyong use and I want to avoid buying new shoes.
Do adapters exist for my shoes/cleats so that I can use them on my road bike pedals? I know that I can simply change cleats but I am looking for a easy solution if possible.
If not what are some spd recommened pedals that I could use on my road bike? Other than cleats why should I not use mountain spd pedals on a road bike? Do good quality spd pedals exist for road bikes? Ex. Nashbar has some Crank Bros Candy C ATB Pedals for $45

However, since you already have SPD (and good ones at that), you don't want to change to another brand on another bike because you don't want another set of shoes. SPD and Crank Bros use entirely different cleats. Get some M520's for your road bike. Same cleat as your XTR but only around $50.

I do use "road" spd pedals - one sided - on my road bike. I don't know what I'll do if they wear out, whether I will go with a two sided pedal or another road SPD pedal. I am used to flipping and clipping into a one sided pedal and it is no big deal. If you're used to the Look pedal, you probably wont' have any problem.
That said, there are probably two reasons to go with the road type spd pedal: looks (I like the looks) and possibly weight. Neither important though.
