Bikes: One brand-less build-up, and a Connondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra Disc. A nicer bike than I need, but it was a good deal, so... ;-)

Really odd cyclecomputer behavior
I have a Nashbar "Dual" cycle computer (two sets of records for two different wheel sizes). Pretty basic wired unit. Recently it began behaving oddly. It works great up to about 23 MPH then the display goes blank and it stops recording (I can tell because it's missing about 3/4 of a mile from my dialy commute).
The problem started after a commute home in a heavy rain, followed by wheel removal and replacement in the cleanup process. The sensor/magnet alignment seems fine, and things appear to be fully dried out.
Any ideas I should check out?

Check the wires for any faults or fraying - It may be a short circuit if the wire has been stripped in one place. Test different sensor and magnet positions.
Most likely fix though - replace the battery.

I might be wrong on the exact number, but I know I was going faster than 0!
I checked it by intermittently shorting the terminals on the head unit by flicking a paperclip back and forth over them them, and I can get it up to 37 MPH that way, so it isn't the head unit.
Time to start checking wiring and sensor.

I've had it happen, I "dried" mine too.
Don't waste too much time, buy a new one.
