Question about removing my crank... and rim replacement?
I'm just curious what tool to use to remove my old school schwinn world sport crank. I've never seen a opening like this one, it looks like a little hole, with little openings on either side.. somewhat like this =o=.
Anyone have any idea what type of tool would work with it?
Also, are rims universal? Do they slip into any dropoutes, or are there particular widths to dropouts and you only can use certain sized rims? I want to replace my old steel rims, but am not sure what kinds/types will work.

I think you're looking at the dust cap on the cranks. Just remove that (should just unscrew) and there should be regular threads underneath.
Most road rims should work.

After removing those dustcaps, you'll still find that you need a special tool, a crank puller. Your bike is probably spaced for 126mm hubs, and I assume you're talking about replacing the wheelset, not just the rims. Modern hubs are 130mm, so not exactly the same. Your rims may be 27" or 700c, see if you can find either of these numbers on your tires. If you change from 27" to 700c you may have some brake issues.
