Seat post grease?

For my seat post, should I use standard grease or should I be using anti-sieze grease? Does it matter?

Thanks,

M

Either would be fine. The whole idea is to forestall metal on metal reaction, thus leading to corrosion and/or seizure.

And according to Sheldon Brown, one only need grease the inside of the seatpost tube of the frame very well, and not the seatpost itself.

Regards,

I'm confused about this as the effect is equivalent.

Thanks! It makes sense to only lube the area where the post and tube come on contact. I hope this fixes my creek!

Less mess during installation. Not that it's difficult to wipe some grease off. I prefer greasing the seatpost however, as I find it difficult to thoroughly grease the inside of the seat tube.

Those would have to be some long fingers.

Not exactly.

When you grease the seatpost, any excess is scraped off onto the outside of your bike frame. If you grease the inside of the seat tube, the excess is pushed down into the frame.

Yep. And when I make a sandwich, I only put the peanut butter on ONE of the slices of bread!

Is there any carbon involved?
