pedal hitting wheel
I recently bought a like-new 2006 Trek 7500 hybrid on Ebay. It is a beauty, but when I ride it the pedals hit the front wheel when I turn. I'm thinking the seller put different pedals on it then it came with. If I turn with the pedals up and down I don't have a problem, but if I forget to do that the pedals can hit the wheels. I almost crashed the first time this happened. Has anyone else had this problem with the 7500? Thanks. Sudamar in Indiana.

I assume you mean the toeclips -- the cages attached to the front of the pedals -- are touching the wheel. If you do not have toeclips and it's the actual body of the pedal touching the wheel, you have a severely damaged frame/fork and should not ride the bike.
Assuming it is in fact the toeclips, it's called toeclip overlap and isn't terribly uncommon. I don't know if your particular bike is designed to have it or if there is something wrong. It is more common in smaller size frames, and it may be something you'll have to learn to live with.

Then there's something severely, and probably dangerously, wrong. I'd take that bike to a shop for an expert opinion, as I suspect either your fork or your downtube is bent.

This is a duplicate of another thread. Apparently the fork was turned backwards in the frame when the bike was assembled.

It's kind of humbling/embarrassing, actually. You get to the point that you think you've eliminated every other possibility to a problem, and then someone hits you with something completely outside your experience.
OTOH, the OP could just as well have read "My paint is bubbling, what's up?" without telling us that, oh yeah, the bike is on fire.
