Bike Forums - Front shifter problem on new Felt F85

Hello, all. I just bought a Felt F85 today (the first bike I have owned in about ten years!) and the front shifter has failed to work already. It happened at the shop, but they fixed it and I went on my way, only to have it happen again this evening. I would take it to the shop, but it's two hours away from where I live. Fortunately, the bike dealer told me about this website, so I decided to give you guys a shot. I hope you can help.

It looks as if the problem is that (bear with me, please, as I don't know the technical terms for all of this) the wire that runs from the handlebar shifters to the chainrings has come loose where it is run through the frame. The spring that is located inside of that hole is basically all the way out towards the front of the bike and when I try to throw the shifters in either direction, there is no tension change in the line. That's exactly what happened earlier today when they fixed it at the shop and it took them less than five minutes to take care of it. Does that fix require more than a wrench and a screwdriver? I'm thinking about calling the shop tomorrow to see if they will pay for a local fix since I'm so far away and I've owned the bike for less than twelve hours, but I would enjoy fixing it myself if it isn't too delicate of a task.
