I carry a piece of a tyvek overnight envelope. Haven't had to use it yet. Wouldn't the piece of inner tube stretch and bulge out of the hole, just like the original tube? Or do the two layers make a difference?

Sure, it will stretch. But, not like the inner tube. It should be understood that any type of tire boot is going to be run with much less pressure (think half, at most). This is just a method to get you home at a limp - and not pushing your broken bike.

A piece of inner tube is much better than a dollar bill. You could take any piece of paper and fold it up. A power bar wrapper. Whatever. Just use a little imagination and there are gobs of solutions. Tyvek is a nice one. The thing that's nice about a piece of inner tube is that it's got a little give to it and will tend to conform to the hole. It's not like tire cuts are standardized, so every situation is going to be different and some solutions that work in one instance may not work in another. Gotta use your noggin.

1 US$ = 1.04206 CAN$

or

1 CAN$ = 0.95964 US$

I get paid in US$ for work - it's killing me!!! When will the US$ stop being in the sh*tter in comparison to other currencies. Or... when will the CAD$ stop being so damn strong and take a dive?!?

It hurts me, but makes my purchases from Performance a whole lot better.

We do have an alternative to using $5 bills as temporary tire boots:

Good call - I have tonnes of those lying around in gloveboxes, in junk drawers, etc.
