8" Rotors on a QR XC Fork?

I'd like to hear out y'all opinions. I'm thinking of putting 8" Rotors up front on my 06' RockShox Recon 351.
Will it matter what brand rotors I get since I've got the deore m525s on? I've heard of snapping fork mounts and post mount adapters and am wondering if all this is true. I don't do any heavy duty riding, just General Cycling. But I just want the feel of having more stopping power. What would y'alls' recomendations be?

I've not heard of anybody snapping a post mount but I have heard of bikes ejecting the front wheel under brakeing.

id reccomend getting better brakes to be honest... by the time youve upsized the rotor, bought a new adapter, your almost halfway to a decent brake...
