Wheel size Limitations
I think I know the answer to this but I want confirmation. I have a 26 x 1.75
tire. Am I limited only to that size with the current rims I have - the 1.75?

Of course not, but what you can safely use depends on the rim width. Check out https://www.sheldonbrown.com/tire_sizing.html

It's pretty much a trial fit process.
Sheldon's website will tell you if the tire will fit onto the rim, but that doesn't mean that it will fit onto the bike.
