easy question: taking off crank-->peddles?
Heres a stumper for you.
Sorta new at this so curious as to how you take off the crank, or the gear system thats connected to the peddles (whats it called?)

yeah mate. depends on what style the cranks are... some need a wrench with a 15mm head (i think... dont quote me on that) which is what is generally the case for "lower end" bikes.
on "better" cranks, a hex wrench will do the job. sometimes a crank arm extractor is needed.

That's a one piece crankset, no need for special tools, just a large adjustable wrench
On the non drive side, loosen the large nut CLOCKWISE and you'll then find the bearing cone which can also be loosened off (to get the locknut and cone off you need to have already taken off the pedal). With those out you can finagle the crankarm a little and eventually get it to slide all the way through the bottom bracket sheel

okay got the large nut off... now how do I get the locknut and cone off!!!

okay, figured it out. Thanks for all the help. I know that is amateur stuff, but hey gotta start somewhere.
