Bar End Shifters Cable Routing Question?

I have installed vintage suntour friction barend shifters and I had the cables running along the entire bar and out by were the aero-brakes exit. It seems like the shifters are not functioning as smoothly as desired. I have adjusted the tightness of the shifters I am just wondering if my problem is with the cable housing location. Does any one have any experience with this? I do not like the look of the traditional travel That look like and over the shoulder boulder holder if you know what I mean.

I route my Shimano bar end shifters 'ergo style' and have no difference in shifting performance from their standard routing. Make sure you're using quality shifter cable and housing.

Actually, your method was common in the 70s. I've done the full coverage method few times and it worked well. Make sure your cables aren't kinked or curled.
