Disk Brake Issue
I recently acquired a very nice used hardrock comp, but I have an issue with the front brake. I've only had linear pull brakes in the past so i'm not sure what to do here.
The front pad seems to be slightly rubbing on the disk when the brake is not being pulled. The tension in the wires are correct, but it is as if the whole brake unite needs to be moved over laterally a couple mm. (Its rubbing on the lateral side (the pad that moves toward the center of the bike when the brake is pressed), not on the medial/wheel side). I hope this makes sense. Does anyone know what I should adjust? Thanks! FYI: They are Hayes MX2's. |
If you have Avids, which you probably do if you have mechanical discs, go here:http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=124

If not Avids with an outside pad adjuster then the cable is used to adjust the outside pad. If this causes the lever to have to be moved too far when actuating the brakes then the caliper will have to be realligned per the install directions.

Thanks for the really good guide, unfortunatly, they are Hayes MX2's, not avids. I don't have a manual so do anywhere else I can find a repair guide?
