Will a threadless BB work in a FG Peugoet?

Hey all,

I've been pointed in this (link) direction for a solution / alternative to getting a Phil Woods (seems like the only choice to me, without scoring a used French BB - unless anyone can point me elsewhere)...

My chief question is whether this thing will work, if anyones had any experience with it, and would it be an issue if I were to use this for a fixie...

Thanks!

dude... what model of a peugeot do you have? take a pic and post it if you can... if you want to use that threadless bb then you still have to die/tap it ( i'm no sure if thats what its called when you put a thread on an object)

but most peugeots that I have seen use an english thread...funny enough... mine is a late 90s and it now has a english thread shimano 105 octalink 1 bb on it (68mm in case you are wondering)

I took it into Urbane the other day and we tried both Italian and English threaded BBs in it to no avail...

Pics (I can always take more detail, I guess):

thumbs down!

Sheldon says they are crap!

We were initially very excited to get these in, but we found that the quality was too erratic, so we no longer carry this product.

In the words of the gentleman I spoke to at Bike Specialties in town "they're Taiwanese cheapo crap" - so that just about seals it for me along with Sheldons' notes (thanks, Soil_Sampler).

The guy has TA BBs, which are apparently what I might well be OK with (French made, he said) - which is probably going to be half the price of the Phil Wood for me, so let's hope that works out. I'll be taking 'er over there next weekend (gotta ride this weekend! :)) and get it sorted out.

Thanks for the help guys.

There are frequently french thread BB parts on eBay as well - just checked, there are TA cups (both sides). You may want to check that option as well, you can probably use another axle and loose balls with these cups. Depending on what parts you already have, this may or may not be a cheaper option.

You definitely have French threads. Get the T.A. cups. They are of the highest quality. I hope they have a spindle that will work for you.

If that doesn't work out for you, there's always this:

It has the advantage of giving you the ability to adjust your chainline. It's pretty long, though.
