Silly question about new wheels and shifting

I love the new Easton Orion II wheelset I finally got to put on the (newish) Scott CR1 Team. However, when I slapped on the cassette from the stock Mavic Aksium wheels, the shifting is a mess! Note, this is 10-speed 105. Should I have used one of the little dinky spacers that were on the Aksium rear wheel? It looked they would have made the cassette not fit on the Orion wheel. Or is it simply a matter of putting the bike on the workstand and adjusting the shifting? TIA.

You should have two spacers on the Mavic wheelset. One is needed for the ten speed cassette which you will need to move over to your new wheelset and the other one is required for the Mavic hub only and is not needed.

I think you can pretty much count on a derailleur adjustment spacers or not with a new wheel...

Thanks to both. I'll get the spacer on there and do some adjustment!
