Campagnolo and Shimano hybrid question.

I have an extra wheelset that I do not use anymore, and decided to give it to my wife. I use Campagnolo Record 10 speed, and my wife rides on Bontrager wheels with Shimano 8 speed. Obviously this union is doomed (the union of the wheelset...)

The front wheel poses no problem, but how do I solve the back wheel issue?

Mavic makes a convertor for Campagnolo users, wishing to make use of Shimano range of wheels, but I cannot find a similar solution for riders wanting to go the other way.

How can I get my "old" Campagnolo Record 10 speed wheelset to fit with my wifes Shimano 8 speed system?

I have been scratching my head the last few days and would like it if you could do the same.

I'd say the union is doomed because you're a cheapskate that sticks his wife with Sora while riding Record.

Oh! Did you mean the union of bike and wheel? Yes, there's a way to do it. Can't think of what it is right now...

Put your wheel on her bike and order some Shimmy10 brifters. The 10sp spacing is close enough between brands it usually works fine.

Strange how few Southern Ladies there are left to appreciate that. The land has been overrun by Yankee immigrants that can't even speak Suthun.

I blame the invention of air conditioning as much as the War.

I assume you refer to The War of Northern Aggression.

I'm sure you know the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee?

A Yankee goes home!

Back on topic, Shimano/Campy compatibility is always a problem. Yes, it will work OK, but no, it will not be perfect. I found that between the two 10s systems I lose a gear when I run a Shimano wheel on a Chorus setup. One of the gears will just skip or make a lot of noise. It is simple mathematics. Take 100mm and divide by 10 and then take 110mm and divide by 10. (I'm completely making these numbers up) You have an extra gear on the wider wheel that the smaller system won't recognize no matter what you do. Again, that doesn't mean it won't work, just that you won't have perfect shifting.
