Going from flatbar to bullhorns?

I have a flatbar road bike with mini-aerobars on it and I'm thinking I'd rather just have bullhorns. The aeros are nice but I hardly use them since I ride 99% city, there's hardly any long straightaways where I can put them to use.

I know going from flatbar to roadbars might mean a new stem, but is there any chance I could re-use any of my current gear? I have rapidfire shifters which I like, ideally I'd like to mount them near the stem w/ bullhorns and replace my brake levers with bullhorn barend levers. Is this do-able?

Here's what I have now:

Bullhorns' diameter is just slightly bigger than your current set up so none cannot be used, even if you are able to force shifters' clamp open enough to fit the ends it will not go through the bends.

What about just tacking on a pair of end-bars? No swap, same effect.
