Silca Pista maintenance
My Silca Pista, which is only a year old or so, has started to show a little age in two ways:
1) A couple months ago, it started developing a little more lateral play with the handle up.
2) In the past week or so, it's started developing a little grinding sound at around 80-90psi. About 10psi later, the chuck wants to pop right off the valve stem (this happens on all my tires).
I know Pistas are rebuildable, but I'd still like to know what I'm looking for before I take it apart. I understand the leather washers can be found at loosescrews.com, any other tips?

It's just odd that the more expensive pump wears out sooner. I have a 1990 TECH TEAM pump that I still use and have never ever repaired. Got it for under $10.
This manual might help. They have a trouble shooting guide in the last pages.

That's just one of the reasons I abandoned mine after a couple of years.
Another was the stupid sharp-ended wire clamps right near the chuck - talk about "Old School" design! Putting sharp wire ends right where you need to grab the pump head...guess they don't have OSHA in Italy.
