Kool-Stop Eagle2 threaded not compatible with cantis?

Hey all,

I've been using Kool-Stop's "Mtn. Pads" with threaded posts for a while now. Great brake pads.

Recently purchased a set of their "Eagle 2" brake pads with threaded posts. However, these things don't have the same hemi-spherical washer hardware as the "Mtn pads". And they don't seem to be terribly compatible with cantilever mounting. There's just not the same adjustability there.

Anyone here using Eagle 2's with cantilevers? Care to share any set-up tips?

Brake shoes for cantilevers use unthreaded posts. Kool stop makes these.

My cantis use threaded posts. You need the Supra 2s, which seem to be the same shape as the Eagle 2s but with the better mounting hardware.

Actually, mine are early 90's Diacompes, so the trend may have either gone away or just have been lurking there all along....

I've had cantis that use threaded posts as well. The MTB pads are superior, both in design and adjustability (at least according to Sheldon Brown), but I've heard they wear more quickly. In my limited experience with both, I concur with Sheldon. The MTB model are much easier to adjust and I also think the wider contact surface and arched design makes it easier to eliminate squeals.

Why not just use the hardware from the Mtn. Pads? Post is the same diameter.
