Bottom Bracket question

So I've just ordered a Cross Check frame to be my "experimental" bike. I plan on starting with it as a singlespeed ( I have the hubs ready to go ), but I need a BB and crank. Sugino makes a JIS one that's pretty reasonable, and I'm tempted to go that route. If I want to be able to add a triple and an FD later, can I just get a longer spindled BB and add spacers to get the chainline straight? Or will I need to buy a different BB when/if I make that change.

Thanks as always!

If it's loose ball then you can just buy a longer spindle (if you can find one). If cartridge then as operator said.
