Determining Bad Chain Length once Chain is Installed...

I know about the big cog/big sprocket rule for determining chain length now....

But what if I already installed the chain? What would be some problems if the chain has a few too many links?

Currently the chain does not smoothly transition up or down the cassette. hanks in advance...

If the chain is too long, when on the smallest chainring and smallest cassette cog the chain will probably rub against itself as it goes around the lower pulley on the rear derailleur and the chain may sag between the rear derailleur and the bottom of the chainring. The rear derailleur should hold tension on the chain in all gear combinations.

If you know the procedure to do it right....then you still do it wrong.....

Then you observe the results..... and ask US how the results should look like.
