Need new pedals

One of my plastic pedals on my MTB finally died yester with the bolt tearing out through the plastic. So I am looking to get some normal replacment pedals. Is there any advantage to having plastic pedals or should I go for metal replacments? As I assume the metal pedals won't break as easily?

My bike is a MTB that I mainly use for road and trial work.

I generally find the metal bodied platform or cage pedals to be of higher quality construction than ones made of plastic. In actuality, I don't think there's that much of a price difference between the cheap no-frills pedals with metal aluminum alloy bodies and those made of plastic. In the past, I was pretty happy with the old Shimano Deore cage pedals. I'm sure you can find them pretty cheaply these days with more people going after clipless or more fancy CNCed freeride platforms.

Yeah I don't have the cash for the fancy pedals that attach to your shoes, just for you basic pedals...

Wellgo is usually a good choice for the budget pedals. Check out these:

MKS is probably the best value in quality trad styl;es. I have used their touring pedal for years.

As poor as Wellgo pedals are, they are a slight step up from plastic "no bearing" type pedals. Not a big step, though.

OTOH, MKS makes very high quality pedals. I used MKS road toeclip pedals for years, until I switched over to Look clipless pedals.

They still lack an outboard bearing race-all they have is a nylon sleeve.

$20 spent on Wellgo pedals is $20 thrown away.
