Rear shock adjustment

After my ride two nights ago, I noticed the o-ring of my Fox Float L shock had rolled off the shock body and was dangling underneath. I assume this was caused by the rear shock bottoming out, but I am not 100% sure since I didn't *see* it happen.

If the rear shock *did* bottom out, does this mean the preload needs to be adjusted? I am a heavy rider (215) so it's completely possible I bottomed it out jumping off a curb or over one of those large branches on my ride.

If so, no big deal since I just bought the bike and the shop offered to fine tune it for free after a few rides. I also work there.

Eventually I'll own a shock pump and learn to do this sort of stuff myself.

pudge, dont take this the wrong way, but dont you think you should read the manual that came with your new bike? I'll bet if you do you'll find pre-load instructions and recommended pressures for your body weight.

Your shock didn't come with a shock pump? Odd, I thought most bikes sold with air shocks came with a shock-pump from the shock manufacturer. You might want to go back to your bike shop and confirm this with them.
