You should bring your bike back to the LBS and tell them to fix it.

For some reason I don't think this was done by a bike shop. X-Mart maybe?

Cross threading pedals is bad.

The pedal spindle is usually steel. The crankarm is usually aluminum. The steel pedal threads usually bugger the softer aluminum ones. If you don't have enough material left to make a good solid marriage, you have to either replace the crank or retro fit a new threaded insert. Otherwise the pedals will keep falling off.

Sounds like a serious candidate for Bike Shop of the year.

Seriously take the bike back and tell them to make it right. That may require a new crankset [on them].

Congratulations to the guy who put the pedals In to start with Secondly, well the shop is a good candidate to get u an upgrade or some stuff for free?

Wonder if u can sue them. Secondly, are u sure is not a problem in the pedal itself?

Let us know where is that shop please...

As a former shop manager I can tell you that bike should never have left the stand like that. It takes a huge amount of effort to cross thread a pedal (even on aluminum cranks) if the threads are not already damaged, but it also is hard to miss when the pedal does not meet the crank arm flush. It may be hard to tell at this point when the cross threading initially occured but the shop should at the very minimum reach a compromise so that you leave the shop with pedals mounted straight on your crank arm and without paying full price.

One needs to test ride a bike as soon after a repair as possible and return it as soon as you find a problem.

This is not like your wheel. Unless they replace the crank and have to get one they don't have in stock you should get your bike back at most w/in 24 hours. Ask to speak to the head mechanic or shop manager, and insist that the head mechanic look at the bike.

Just in case years ago I saw a moron threading the pedal backwards, I know it is imposible but since he couldnt put the pedals right the 1st time the arshole just tried again and god it worked we found out because when trying to take one of the pedals off, the pedal was tightening even more? Hmmm we tried backwards and it worked perfect!...

Took us forever to take the pedal out anyways but we were still trying fo figure it out how that happen

Dude... get a new set of crancks or something because at least the one that is broken is already toasted, will be cheaper and faster replace only that crank. Now... ask the shop if they can give u one for free to start with. secondly, be there when the guy install the crank and the pedal... 3rd test the bike.... 4th, never come back to that place and be sure to tell averybody. 6th buy a book for bike repairs, fix a bike is easy, u'll save a lot of money that way dude. I really believe that u think u r smart... bike repairs are not rocket science... (i dont want to offend the good mechanics of this forum ok?)

Thanks.
