Creaky crank, taper question

So my crank started creaking today, and this has me worried because I think that my spindle is designed with an ISO taper while my cranks are Sugino RDs designed for a JIS taper. The spindle is the stock one on a Peugeot Super Competition (I believe they are referred to as PXN-10E). Can anyone determine for sure whether my Peugeot's stock spindle is JIS or ISO just by its origin? Is there a way of checking myself by taking measurements whether the taper is JIS or ISO?

The bottom bracket is Stronglight and I'm 99% sure from other evidence on the internet that the threading of my bottom bracket is French or Swiss.

I'm not really familiar with spindle sizing. Would it be possible for me to get a JIS spindle that would fit in my Stronglight bottom bracket cups?

Regardless of what is causing the creaking, I would like to make sure that my crank and spindle tapers match so that my crank set does not get destroyed. I'm pretty sure the sound is coming from my tapered spindle/crank interface. If it is my pedals or bottom bracket, that is simple enough.

Someone else is having a 'creaking noise' problem on another thread. I suggested that the spindle/crank connecting point may be dry. This may be your problem, too. What I do is remove the cranks. Coat the spindle w/Loctite Extreme Repair Adhesive. Put the cranks back on. Ususally, this solves the 'squeaking'. If not it may be another problem. Yeah, I'm not sure about the taper issue, you may want to go to SB for that answer. BTW, I use the blue Thread Locker in the red tube for the crank bolts as sometimes they can unthread and fall out. Especially on the NDS.

First make sure your spindle is NOT JIS. If it is, it will be marked with a number and a letter. 3, 5, or 7 (indicating the length) and a letter such as H. If it does not have these markings then you will have to find a local shop that has a copy of Sutherland's Handbook which outlines compatibility problems and solutions for different spindles (which also may vary by manufacturer regardless of what type it is).

On a side note, I'm not sure what Operators response was getting at, but seemed completely useless and condescending to me... maybe the poster just wants attention?
