Vibration

Today I visited my LBS and decided i needed a new stem. I had it installed and brought my bike home. I went for a test ride and notcied that the front of my bike was vibrating a lot? Is there anything i can do to stop it? or should I just bring it back to my LBS?

Are the headset bearings properly loaded? Lock the ft. brake, rock the bike and try to feel for any knocking. Though that's kinda tricky with front suspension sometimes...

Oh yeah... if you're not comfortable with that then definitely return to the LBS.

Assuming it's threadless, loosen the bolts holding the stem to the fork, tighten the pre-load screw on the top cap, re-tighten the stem bolts.

<edit> Cool... someone did it while I was typing... use the link above!

Don't do any of this unless you're 100% confident of what you're doing.

Either way you need to go back to the LBS and let 'em know that they didn't do the job right. If your headset is indeed loose, some mechanic needs a flogging for not checking the bike before letting it leave the shop.
