Might (might not). But why spend the extra coin? 10-speed chains cost 3-4 times what you can get a decent 8-speed for.

Sheldon Brown mentions this on his website. those special 9/10 speed chains are just thinner on the outside to fit in between the cogs, the inside spacing is still the same. If you have it, use it.
