Hey from Buffalo, and trying to gear up for cycling. Just bought a new bike and already I am noticing a feeling in the peddle. We had some rain and i was wondering how often you schould clean your bike and what type of maintence you schould do. If someone has a suggestion on anything i would greatly appreciate it as far as greases oild whatever needs to be done, ill bring the toothbrush out if needbe

If you ride much in the rain, you will need to dry and relubricate the chain and rotating parts frequently. I hope you are not leaving your bike out in the rain.

I don't wash my bike with any pressure, as the pressure would force water inside into places that I cannot dry. A very gentle rinse or wipe down is fine for removing road dirt.

After rain you need to lube your chain. Other than putting air in tires and inspecting stuff for wear, there's not much other work to be done. Adjust things as they go out of adjustment, replace parts that get broken. Check your chain for wear and replace before it gets too serious.

Thanks for the info. Besides drying the chain and relbrication to it, I was wondering if i schould get one of those chain cleaners. Is there anything i schould buy to help lubricate parts or clean the parts or the bike.

. Do a search on chain lubrication or chain cleaning before starting another thread on that subject, lol. There are a large number of tightly held opinions and beliefs on the subject. It's like flossing your teeth, something is better than nothing, many don't do it as often as they should.
