Front Derailleur Questions...
I'm getting together a Shimagnolo setup (the only thing campy is the cassette) on my current cross bike and only need a FD. Assuming that everything in the set-up is 10-speed, do I need a 10-speed FD? Does it matter what type of FD I run (campy or shimano)? And, last but not least, I have an old compact crank lying around that I'm planning to use on this - can a normal double FD be used (with adjustments), or should I track down a triple or compact FD? Thanks in advance for any advice on these silly Q's...

I believe it's all dependent on whether your FD is controlled by an indexed shifter.
10-spd spacing being narrower and all. And if it's a compact double, I can't see why a standard double FD couldn't work. A triple FD with a max tooth capacity within your compact crank will work. I believe that is the only constraint for triple FDs used with double road cranks. Just can't try the reverse, of a double FD with a triple crankset. |
What model fd, what shifters and what crank?

Cranks are FSA carbon compacts (50/34); shifters are ultegra 6600's (double front); RD is a short cage ultegra 6600; rear cassette is an old campy centaur 10...
