Does anyone make a new frame with Downtube shifter bosses that I could put all my old Shimano 600 stuff on? I want to use the parts from an old broken bike to build a new bike. I miss my old roadie and just need a frame to complete it. Thanks.

Both Surly and Soma make bikes with downtube shifter bosses for decent prices. If you're looking for aluminum or carbon though, you're probably out of luck.

There are shedloads of really nice OLDER frames out there too that you could use. Give 'em some love. Come to Classic and Vintage, and we'll help you.....

From what I've seen (which I'll admit isn't too many different frames) as long as the frame does NOT have built-in stops for STI shifters, you can mount downtube shifters to it. You can do this because, in a stroke of genius (or just good planning), Shimano made the boss for their newer STI shifter stops the same as the boss for their older downtube shifters. As such, I was able to mount adjustable stops for STI shifters on a 1989 Trek 400 frame without modification and I could have (but didn't) mount downtube shifters on my 2004 LOOK KG386 carbon frame, again without modification. If this info does not apply to all types of downtube shifter and STI stop bosses, I'd appreciate being informed about it.
