Disc brake shudder on new discs...normal?

Second post in as many days. 2008 Lemond poprad disc, ridden less than a week. Has from the start what I think is severe front disc brake shudder, even with less than maximum braking. Have tightened headset preload, cleaned rotors with isopropyl alcohol, tightened bolts, and checked for trueness. LBS says this is normal for new discs, but I'm incredulous. What do you gurus think?

I think it's totally normal until the brakes have seated in.

I know it's not empirical evidence or anything, but I've done two front disc conversions to bikes of mine this year and had no shudder problems on either one.

My first one had just as good braking on the first stop as it does 25+ rides later. The second one only had two rides on it but early indicators are positive.
