Problem installing Truvativ Stylo GXP - Help?
I decided to replace my old square taper crankset and got a good deal on a Stylo GXP on ebay. It arrived with a 'Token' external bearing (Token website says bb it will fit Truvative). I installed it all, but have some issues...
I have a 68mm shell (English) and with all of the spacers in there, the drive side cranks seems to fit fine, but the left side has some up/down, fwd/bkwd play (axle not fiiting snug on inner run of bb). Also, the left side crank arm does not go onto the splines enough (leaving about 4mm space between the crank arm and the bearing face) so if I push on the left side (along the line of the axle), the whole thing shifts across, leaving the gap on the drive side.
I am going to take it to my LBS but thought I would try with you guys first. Is the GXP bearing set up proprietary - so the Token bb would not work? Am I going to have to shell out for a GXP bb?
Thanks for your help.

I think your bottom bracket is not compatible with your crank. Truvativ uses a bearing with a 24mm inside diameter and shimano/fsa/race face use one with a 25mm inside diameter. I checked on Token and I only found they said theirs were "shimano compatible". This may explain your symptoms, as the larger bearing inside diameter would allow the spindle to slide too far to the left, past where it is supposed to seat in a proper right side bearing, so extra would be sticking out on the left side. If these were sold together as a compatible set, you should talk to the sellers to get a different bottom bracket for your cranks.

Thanks Mister
'Sup madman, thanks for the help.
I have taken it up with the seller to see whether I get something from that direction, otherwise I will buy the x pipe bb - just want to get back out there.

So I bought the Truvativ GXP bb. Fitted it and it all goes together with no problems.
Anyone wanting to use a Token BB with the Truvativ GXP cranks, don't bother, they are not compatible.
