help with hayes hfx nine
so I am trying to adjust the pads and when I get them how I want them I take the spacers out (between the rotor and the pads) its good. Then I pull the lever and they go back to where they were, how can I fix that?

What spacers r u using between the rotor and the pads. I've never used any spacers when adjusting calipers

The only spacer I've ever used to adjust a disc brake is a business card. The only problem I can see is the pressure in the lines. It could be possible that there is too much pressure in the lines and this will keep your caliper in the position its in no matter how much you adjust it. Another issue, if the caliper has been used, is the piston being seized because of gunk buildup.

its possible, would that mean I need to do a rebuild?

If they are a couple of years old, you need to put piston kits in the calipers. After a while the seals, which act as return springs, lose their grip and the psitons do not pull back into the caliper, then the pads rub.
