BB threading - english or italian?

Quick question:

Friend gave me a Shimano Ultegra BB and told me it's 70mmx118mm Italian.
I'm wondering how to know if that would be compatible with my bike?
I've got a Motobecane Outcast..
Do most bikes require English threading or the Italian?

Thanks!

The outcast has English threading. The majority of massed produced bicycles will have English threading.

Your frame has an English threaded bottom bracket. It's a mountain bike, correct? If so, it will have either a 68mm or 73mm bottom bracket shell, both sizes are English thread. English thread bb's are left hand thread on the drive side, right hand thread on the non-drive side. It's a better design than Italian threaded bb's, they're right hand threaded on both sides and prone to loosening on the drive side if not tightened super tight.
