questions on installing a Nexus hub.
ok I have the nexus hub prebuilt into the wheel that is sold by Harris Cyclery.
I just figure out that one of the metal circles is really a spring clip, and looks like it is for holding the sprocket in place. There is another black plastic ring that I am not sure where is goes. Perhaps under the brass colored metal ring? Ok never mind, simply looking at all of this in the morning, with a well rested brain is working much better then at the end of a really long, stressful day. :) |
can't seem to get the lock ring to turn and lock. It is like I can't push it down enough to slip under the tabs that is locks under.
Any tips to doing this? Maybe I have too many of the ring on it? There is a black plastic ring and a metal ring that are very similar in shape, do I need both on it? The metal ring seems to make it all too thick for the lock ring to go on. but then what is the metal ring for? |
Why did you take it apart?
|
I did not take it apart. I received it with the cog off and I am simply trying to put on the last few parts (cog, snap ring, driver cap, cassette joint, and lockring). I just want to make sure I am doing things correctly.
Here is a post and some pictures that may help. I have a question about 2 of the parts that came with the Nexus hub. the parts in question can be seen in the link below. i190.photobucket.com/albums/z180/Bolo_Grubb/nexus%20hub/CIMG0431.jpg I think one of these might be the "driver cap" but I am not sure which one or if either of these is actually needed. When I place the brass colored metal ring on the hub, it prevent me from getting the lock ring to lock in place on the cassette joint. I can put on the smaller black ring and it seems to snap into place and I am able to get the lock on. Please help me understand what these parts are and how I should use them. |
Which Nexus hub is it? Have you found any instructions? Shimano has some on their site.
