Campy 8-speed hub woes

Just overhauled my rear 8-speed 'Record' hub (first time on this hub) and found that the axle cone for the bearings are brinneled and a little rough looking. This is on the cassette side and really dont know if that particular bearing cone is pressed onto the axle or not. The other bearing cone, the one that threads onto the axle (non drive side) is still okay. I got this hub used, so cant verify whatever maintenance schedule it had (although I can imagine it wasn't good apparently)

I was wondering if this particular bearing cone could be replace, or would I have to just get a new axle (fat chance) or maybe another 8-speed hub.

8-speed parts are getting harder and harder to find and the prices on ebay seem to reflect that. I have no problem with 8-speed, but since replacement parts are becoming obsolete, maybe I should just upgrade the entire gruppo to 10-speed Centaur.

Any thoughts on this??

I have a pretty much bomb-proof 20-spoke Campy 8/9-speed Mavic Cosmic Expert hub from the '90s. I rode it for about 6 years off and on, never had a single hiccup, much less anything I woud consider a problem.

Lace it up with a Velocity Deep-V and off you go.

Shoot me an email/PM if you're interested. I'll let it go for a song, it's been sitting for a year or so now.

Have you tried Branford Bike, Campy Oldy or Wheels Manufacturing?

8 speed hubs are generally cheap on fleabay. I'ld consider looking there for a used hub/wheel. Or you could sell the 8 speed stuff and move to 9/10 speed.
