What I'm building (a pictorial thank you)
Hey, everyone. It's Thanksgiving here in the US, which means that I wanted to pop in with a pic and thank the forum for the things that the people here have helped me out with.
I got a bunch of wheelbuilding advice, including to read Jobst Brandt's book and what tools to get, which led to both those wheels. This was a big deal, from some help on getting starting in the first place to spacing the rear when I realized that the axle was the wrong size for the frame and needed to redish the back.
Thanks also for the threads about road levers with V brakes, which led to combining this frame with Tektro RL520s (on order, actually. It looks like no one has these in stock! What's up with that?)
So, thanks. Thanks for knowing a lot more than me and being willing to share it, thanks for your clever solutions, and thanks for refraining from being internet jerkholes for so much of the time!
You can see more writeup about the bike (with its temporary fill-in name) over at Velospace! (I'll have a blog post with process pics up, too.)

Joshua-
I am most confident that YOU have quite a bit to share with the rest of us. I'm hoping that you will continue posting photos of your projects, which I know many will be able to learn from.
Thanks.

Hey, I just remembered that there were a couple of threads that informed me about painting frames, too. That's a Trek 7300 hybrid frame there. It looked exactly like this:
So thanks for that, too!

I know you'll probably want to do your own painting, but I've also heard mention somewhere here about powder coating, even truck bed liner.

Yeah, I don't think you can mask powder coat. But truck bed liner, I *knew* there was something weird that I'd heard like that. That shows how well I'm actually paying attention, dunnit?
Well, next time!

Nice looking project.
I'm starting something similar, going slowly, as I've been building 2 other roadies at the same time.
Straight-blade fork = sessy.

Yeah, I've never had a fork like this before, but it looked too cool to pass up. 700c with V-brake braze-ons in carbon usually costs you bits of soul, but Ebay is great like that. You just rummage and bid what you can pay until sooner or later, you've got the part! It's got rather more clearance than I need, but that's just grist for future projects, I reckon.
Now, if I could just get this BB to thread...

Heh. I know. It goes on about halfway and is visibly crooked by that point.
I just put up the blog post, by the way.
