Here is a fellow that I found on the practical machinist forum. He is well known there for having exceptional machine tools such as the super rare Rivett lathe. I recently discovered that he makes bike tools.

Fantastic! Brett's shop is an old school machinist's dream.

I was looking at the repair stand and checked the price.

Nice stuff but from the prices I won't purchasing anything soon.
Don't take that as me dissing him. I know quality costs, but I just can't afford that.

I think his best product is the urethane gasket for the Silca presta head.

If you work in a shop, the repair stands are more than worth it. We use two in our shop and it's the best investment we've made into tools. I probably couldn't justify that much for home use though, unless you run a low seat and work on your bike very often.

I hope to get over to meet Brett some time. I am a little machine crazy myself and always looking for methods to chuck odd items in lathes. This photo he has a fork chucked with a fixture in a 3 jaw chuck and cutting the stem threads. The lathe is a Holbrook capable of metric threading. The photo is upside down. Machinist are a little twisted anyway.

Wow, now that's hardcore machining...using a lathe to thread a steerer tube!

Machinists are the coolest folks! Some of my fondest childhood memories were of the term in Machine Shop in HS. Once when I was in college, I had a co-op job in a consulting firm that ran their own machine shop. The head of the shop allowed me to use the stuff when it wasn't too busy, to make custom items for my motorcycle. Oh how I want a Bridgeport! To this day!
